Hong Kong’s First ‘Meat Bar’ Opens in October

Business travellers looking for a carnivorous experience while visiting Hong Kong can have their appetites sated at the city’s first ‘meat bar’, which opens in October.

MEATS is a no reservation, no service charge restaurant that strips back the fuss with a straight-forward menu of sharing-style dishes. Traditional and unconventional cuts of meat are prepared to bring out the best flavours, using mastered techniques such as house-smoking, rotisserie, and grilling over a custom-made Robata Grill. Opening mid-October on SoHo’s Staunton Street, MEATS, the newest innovation by the Pirata Group, is set to become a go-to spot for a casual and satisfying bite with carnivorous friends.

“We don’t believe that going out and enjoying some good meat has to be an expensive, white-tablecloth affair. And why just stick to ordering one steak, or one main dish from the menu?” says Pirata Group co-founder Christian Talpo. “At MEATS, we encourage interaction and laid-back dining. Where you can gather with friends, order a bunch of plates to share, roll up your sleeves, and dig right in.”

Heading the MEATS kitchen is Scotsman Paddy McDermott. A true master of meat, Paddy has a deep understanding of how it should be treated from start to finish, from butchery and preparation to precise carving. The menu includes a series of regularly rotated plates that are served in sharable sizes for those who can’t resist a taste of everything on the menu.
