Two New Hotels for Kunming

Marriott International expands its footprint in Southwest China with the opening of Sheraton Kunming and Delta Hotels by Marriott Kunming.

The openings of the two new Marriott hotels mark the debut of Sheraton Hotels and Delta Hotels by Marriott in the capital city of China’s Yunnan province. Both new properties are located in the commercial hub of Kunming Economic & Technology Development Zone, with proximity to Falcon mall, the newest commercial complex in the Free Trade area.

Sheraton Kunming’s design takes cues from the historic Tea Horse Road (Cha Ma Gu Dao), ancient trade routes in southwest China, with stunning paintings depicting Stone Forest, the Red River Terraces, and the ancient tea town of Lijiang.

Premium facilities and elevated guest experiences create a warm and welcoming setting that makes the hotel an ideal gathering place for business travellers. All 427 spacious and well-appointed guestrooms feature ethnic embroidery depicting scenery along the ancient Tea Horse Road, as well as plush bedding, and innovative services. including an artificial intelligence voice assistant used to control lights, curtains, and the room temperature.

Sheraton Kunming also features five innovative dining outlets. These include Xiu all-day dining restaurant, which welcomes guests with spacious open kitchens; Yun Chinese restaurant, which serves an impressive array of authentic Cantonese, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan dishes; and the Ju Lobby Lounge, which specializes in freshly brewed coffee and various Chinese teas produced in Yunnan. For after houses, the 206 Pub and Dian Yue 1910 Bar make for an ideal spot to sip on hand-crafted cocktails and wines, complemented with a selection of local snacks over daily live music performances.

The Sheraton Fitness Center supports guests in maintaining a fit lifestyle while on the road, complete with advanced cardio and strength equipment and customized fitness courses. The indoor heated infinity swimming pool connects with the rooftop garden, promising a refreshing swim among calming green views, while the Fu SPA allows guests to pamper themselves with a variety of treatments that will help them to unwind and recharge.

The new Delta Hotels by Marriott Kunming is designed to deliver the Delta Hotels’ promise of a frictionless journey by focusing on the truly meaningful elements that guests need during their stays. The new hotel features 639 thoughtfully designed guestrooms equipped with the brand’s signature clean aesthetics, as well as essential amenities including free Wi-Fi and productive workspaces.

The hotel celebrates the profound Chinese culture, which is envisioned at the 3rd floor’s Tea Library, home to a décor wall themed around Thousands of Characters, a Chinese poem that has been used as a primer for teaching Chinese characters to children from the sixth century onward. Guests are invited to spend a peaceful morning or afternoon reading in this comfortable and beautiful space as they sip a nice cup of selected tea, such as the famous locally sourced premium Pu’er and black tea.

The new Sheraton and Delta hotels boast 3,000 square meters of shared conference and banquet spaces, including a 1,352-square-meter pillarless grand ballroom with nine-meter-high ceilings, eight multi-function rooms and a rooftop garden that caters to all sorts of events. The hotels also provide state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment together with a dedicated service team to help guests create memorable events of all kinds, from romantic weddings and gala dinners to product launches and board meetings.

The hotels are located 25 kilometers away from both Kunming Changshui International Airport and Kunming South Railway Station and can be reached with a 40-minute drive. A car trip to Kunming Dianchi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Centre only takes 30 minutes.
