Kimpton Expands in Asia With Bangkok & Tokyo Openings

Kimpton, the boutique hotel brand of InterContinental Hotels Group, will expand its Asia footprint next month with the arrival of Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok and Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo in October.

The Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok will be the brand’s first opening in Southeast Asia and will feature 362 curated and artfully designed guest rooms, including 131 serviced residences, under an hour’s drive from Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Located in the heart of the Langsuan area and nestled right beside Lumpini Park, one of the largest public parks in the city, it will offer the best of both worlds — convenient access to the city’s prime districts including Sukhumvit, Silom, Siam, and Chidlom, combined with the tranquillity and unobstructed greenery views of Lumpini Park.

“We’re eager to continue our global expansion by introducing Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants to Bangkok, where we’ll offer a sophisticated, highly personalized travel experience,” says Mike DeFrino, chief executive officer, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. “This increasingly popular travel destination is one of Southeast Asia’s brightest gems and we look forward to welcoming visitors to the region with our unscripted approach to boutique hospitality.”

Kimpton Bangkok will be part of Sindhorn Village, a 22-acre mega mixed-use development, with a rich selection of bespoke dining and retail options available at guests’ doorstep. To explore other offerings and attractions around the city, business travellers can take the metro from the Chidlom BTS station conveniently located a short walk away.

Within the hotel, guests will be able to enjoy culinary delights at two dining establishments and unwind at the hotel swimming pool, gym, and spa. Occupants of the serviced residences will have access to the Executive Club, and to meet guests’ event needs, Kimpton Bangkok will be equipped with seven meeting rooms, with capacity to host functions close to 200 guests.

In addition to the new Bangkok property, Kimpton will open in the Japanese capital with the arrival of Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo, Inspired by New York’s art and fashion scene, the new hotel is located close to the iconic Shibuya Crossing and Shinjuku Station. Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo will offer 162 guest rooms, two F&B outlets, three meeting and event spaces, a health and fitness centre, and a chapel on level 16 doubling as an immersive art gallery for exclusive exhibits.

There would be few places more fitting for a unique luxury hotel than Japan’s Shinjuku, the world-famous skyscraper district that showcases many of Tokyo’s tallest buildings, as well as department stores, subterranean malls, electronics shops, and Kabukicho, one of Japan’s largest and most lively entertainment districts. It’s also home to the world’s busiest railway station, which serves more than two million passengers every day.

Great food sits at the heart of the Kimpton ethos, and Kimpton Tokyo Shinjuku will bring this to life with three locally-inspired restaurants that will allow guests and locals alike to embark on uniquely distinct dining experiences. In true Kimpton style, the property will offer signature perks such as complimentary morning coffee and tea in the living room lobby and an evening social hour, giving guests an opportunity to unwind and recharge.
