Lufthansa & SWISS Recommence Hong Kong Flights

With the opening of German, Swiss and Austrian borders for travellers from Hong Kong, carriers Lufthansa and SWISS will recommence flights to the city from Zurich and Frankfurt.

With Germany, Austria and Switzerland now added to Hong Kong’s “White List”, the airlines will offer six flights a week between Europe and Asia, offering business travellers convenient flight connections to Austria, France, the United Kingdom, and many other destinations.

Business travellers will be able to travel from Hong Kong and enter Austria, Germany and Switzerland normally again, given they can provide either a certificate of full Covid-19 vaccination, full recovery from a Covid-19 infection or by presenting a negative AntiGen Rapid or PCR test result prior to boarding their flight.

While SWISS already connects Hong Kong with three weekly flights to Zurich (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday), Lufthansa will ramp up operations in July and start flying from Hong Kong to Frankfurt, also three times per week (Monday, Thursday Saturday). Customers departing to Zurich and Frankfurt will have access to Lufthansa Group’s vast European network and will also be able to transit through Hong Kong to onward destinations, where current restrictions allow.

“We are delighted to have restrictions fall for flights from Hong Kong – one of our key destinations in Asia-Pacific,” says Christoph Meyer, General Manager Hong Kong, South China & Macao for the Lufthansa Group airlines. “We are ready to serve our Hong Kong customers who want to travel to Austria, Germany, Switzerland or another European country to have a memorable holiday, visit family and friends or see business partners they haven’t been able to see in person for more than a year. Depending on demand, the number of six weekly flights can be increased on short notice at anytime. Our flights will offer customers state-of-the-art safety and hygiene standards that are among the highest in the industry, top-notch comfort and service in all classes as well as numerous flight connections from Frankfurt and Zurich to top destinations in Europe.”

With the opening of German, Swiss and Austrian borders for travellers from Hong Kong, carriers Lufthansa and SWISS will recommence flights to the city from Zurich and Frankfurt.

Lufthansa flights will depart Hong Kong at 23.25 and arrive in Frankfurt at 06.05 + 1. Flights will then depart Frankfurt at 21.55 and arrive in Hong Kong at 15.45 +1. SWISS flights will depart Hong Kong at 23.45 and arrive in Zurich at 6.10 +1, returning at 12.25 for a -6.15 + 1 arrival in the Fragrant Harbour.

On Lufthansa Group flights, passengers are required to wear a protective medical mask— either a surgical mask or an FFP2 mask, or a mask with the KN95/N95 standard, from boarding throughout the flight and when leaving the aircraft. An exemption to this is only possible for medical reasons, if a medical certificate issued on a form provided by Lufthansa Group and a negative Covid-19 test, not older than 72 hours at the scheduled start of the journey, is available
