Hong Kong Airlines will launch direct flight services to Taichung in Taiwan from 19 July.

The new Taichung route will be operated daily, greatly enhancing the connection between Hong Kong and the Taiwanese city and bringing more convenience and choices to business travellers. 

Taichung, Taiwan’s second-largest city, is strategically located in the heart of the island, making it a pivotal economic and business hub. Its central position provides easy access to major cities like Taipei and Kaohsiung, fostering robust connectivity and logistics. This advantageous location has attracted numerous multinational corporations and manufacturing giants, establishing Taichung as a critical player in Taiwan’s industrial and commercial sectors, particularly in precision machinery, electronics, and aerospace. The Taichung Industrial Park and Central Taiwan Science Park are home to many high-tech companies and innovative startups.

In addition, the city hosts various technology forums, trade shows, and international conferences, including the annual Taichung International Expo and the Precision Machinery Exhibition, providing a platform for networking and knowledge exchange.

In addition, the opening of the new route will be integrated with the airline’s existing four daily flights between Hong Kong and Taipei, effectively connecting the northern and central parts of the Taiwan region and offering passengers more flexibility in planning their travel within the territory. 

Hong Kong Airlines’ Taichung HX290 service will leave Hong Kong on Mondays-Saturdays at 9.30 and arrive at 11.10. The return service, HX291, will leave Taiwan at 12.10 and arrive at 13.50. On Sundays HX290 will leave at 10.00 and arrive at 11.40 and HX291 will leave Taichung at 12.40 and arrive at 14.20.
