Perfectly suited for corporate entertaining, Hong Kong restaurant Ruên has launched a vibrant new menu showcasing popular hawker dishes from Bangkok.
If you’re looking for a casual yet elegant setting for corporate celebrations or casual catch-ups in Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui East, you’re in luck. Since opening its doors a year ago, Ruên has quickly garnered a devoted following among Southeast Asian food enthusiasts, including corporates staying at the many adjacent hotels.
Tsim Sha Tsui in the Limelight
Renowned for its warm hospitality and often fully booked tables, Ruên is a welcoming haven where guests patiently await their turn to indulge in consistent and genuine flavours.
Ruên, inspired by the Thai word for “home” or “eatery,” aims to create a warm and inviting atmosphere for diners to experience the essence of authentic dining. The restaurant’s commitment to quality ingredients and traditional cooking techniques ensures that every visit is worthwhile.
Committed to modern interpretations of Thai and Vietnamese comfort food, Ruên has launched an exciting new menu designed to delight new and loyal guests. The menu features many popular dishes from Bangkok that are hard to find in Hong Kong.
Cooking that Captures the Essence of a Region
The restaurant’s latest offerings showcase an exquisite selection of dishes, inspired by the diverse textures and flavours inherent in Thai cuisine, enhanced by a variety of Vietnamese grilled specialities. Many elements—from condiments to marinades and homemade ice cream—are all prepared from scratch on the premises. This dedication aligns with the restaurant’s motto of serving the best authentic and homemade meals, reminiscent of what a family would share at home.
With diners increasingly seeking casual dining experiences that offer hearty value, these new offerings consist of generously sized portions designed for sharing, the new additions include Grapor Pla Nhue Poo, a Thai-Chinese silky fish maw soup made with pork bone broth and filled with tender crab claw meat and shiitake mushrooms; Larb Pla, a unique take on classic “Larb” dishes, featuring steamed fresh Barramundi mixed with fresh chilli and garlic, and served with toasted garlic bread; and Nhue Yang Takrai, USDA sirloin steak thinly sliced and skewered on lemongrass sticks, then charcoal-grilled to perfection.
A Hotspot for Corporate Entertaining
Also look out for Por Pia Thord Poo, deep-fried crab meat and chicken spring rolls served with a zesty vinegar sauce; Gaeng Kua Muek Yat Mu, a popular dish inspired by Bangkok hawker signatures that features boiled baby squid stuffed with spiced marinated minced pork, braised in creamy Thai Panang curry and coconut milk, and accompanied by fresh Thai mango cubes; and Pad Yi La Nhue, sliced beef sirloin with stir-fried with green beans, baby corn, mixed bell peppers, fresh Thai basil, cumin powder, and oyster sauce, resulting in a dish that is packed with “wok hei.”
Thais are also renowned for their sweet tooth, and Ruên offers a delightful selection of creamy milkshakes, each made with homemade ice cream that strikes the perfect balance of creaminess and sweetness, with four enticing flavours: pandan, coconut, Thai milk tea, and taro.
Where Authenticity Meets Elegance
Ruên provides a unique and inviting atmosphere, accommodating up to 60 guests in its vibrant dining room and an additional 20 in its semi-covered alfresco patio area, perfect for casual corporate gatherings. The restaurant’s interior is as lively as the cuisine, creating an ambience that captivates diners from the moment they arrive.
Dressed in vibrant shades of red and honey-hued wood, Ruên is bathed in a warm glow from banks of suspended pendant lamps, complemented by a decorative hanging garden that spans the ceiling. The main dining room showcases a harmonious interplay of light that evolves throughout the day, thanks to large modern windows along the façade, inviting natural daylight to foster a warm and welcoming ambience.
The bistro-inspired design features a striking, extended curved panel ceiling in red, seamlessly integrated with rattan detailing, and paired with comfortable banquette seating in forest green and elegant green marble tabletops. Ruên’s soothing vibe, set against sophisticated interiors, serves as the perfect canvas for the culinary team to present their authentic interpretations of traditional Thai dishes.
