Hannah St Hotel has opened in Melbourne’s Southbank as the city’s newest luxury destination.
Designed by the acclaimed Flack Studio, the US$100 million hotel, which is located within the Queensbridge building and adjacent to the Melbourne Arts Precinct, is a celebration of art, architecture, and cultural connection, offering business travellers the type of immersive experience that could only belong in Melbourne.
Set on a striking triangular site reminiscent of New York’s iconic Flatiron Building, Hannah St Hotel is a masterclass in transforming urban constraints into creative opportunity. Inside, Flack Studio’s layered approach – nostalgic yet modern – shapes a hotel that feels lived-in, elevated, and unmistakably Melbourne.
Across its 188 boutique rooms and suites, guests will find custom furniture, rich textures, curated minibars, premium amenities and Marshall speakers. Every room offers skyline views and a design sensibility that blends glamour with grit, a nod to Melbourne’s architectural and cultural layers.
At the heart of the guest experience is Level 9, a purpose-designed space for connection, creativity, and wellbeing. Highlights include a 20-metre indoor pool with city views, steam room and sauna, and a state-of-the-art fitness studio.
In addition, guests have access to considered co-working spaces with a dedicated podcast room. Versatile, design-forward conference and MICE facilities extend the hotel’s offering for business travellers and event planners.
True to its neighbourhood-centric philosophy, Hannah St Hotel positions itself as a cultural hub, showcasing works by leading Australian artists including Justene Williams and Jazz Money, and offering curated experiences inspired by the city’s ever-evolving arts scene.
In a landmark collaboration, The Mulberry Group (the team behind Hazel, Dessous, Lilac Wine, Molli, and Heide Kitchen) has opened five new venues within the hotel. Led by founder Nathan Toleman, whose iconic venues have helped define Melbourne’s café culture, the group has shaped a rhythm of hospitality at Hannah St Hotel that shifts effortlessly from morning to night.
The Mulberry Group’s venues include Coupette Corner Bistro & Bar, an all-day European bistro; Hannah St Coffee, a hole-in-the-wall espresso bar serving speciality roasted Square One Coffee; BarHannah and Carriage Lounge in the lobby; and The Terrace Lounge, a rooftop bar and lounge. Together, they offer a deeply Melbourne take on dining – layered, expressive, and guided by a sense of place.
