The Sounds of Tranquility

If you’re looking for a way to explore Hong Kong without having to lift your head from the massage table, French audiophile brand Devialet has partnered with the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong’s Plateau Spa to create “Voyage des Sens”, a unique spa ritual that combines therapy and sound.

The new 60-minute bespoke spa experience, the result of a first-of-its-kind collaboration, combines a full-body treatment with a unique soundtrack of Hong Kong’s most iconic cityscapes, produced and recorded by Devialet.

The new 60-minute bespoke spa experience, the result of a first-of-its-kind collaboration, combines a full-body treatment with a unique soundtrack of Hong Kong’s most iconic cityscapes, from the urban sounds of traffic lights flickering in the bustling streets of the Wanchai waterfront, and ferries crossing Victoria Harbour, to the melodies of raindrops falling on trees across the New Territories, and gusts of wind blowing over the Dragon’s Back, produced and recorded by Devialet.

The audio journey works in unison with the treatment’s elements of touch, transporting guests into a deeper meditative state while creating the feeling of movement and physical escape. Rhythms and frequencies are explored to slow the rhythm of the body to allow the senses and mind to unwind, relax and let go, while Devialet Gold Phantom speakers employ ADH (Analog Digital Hybrid); HBI (Heart Bass Implosion); and infra-bass, transmitted at 15Hz well below the human hearing spectrum, to create mild internal vibrations void of sound, for the ultimate unorthodox awakening of the body.

“This collaboration has been an inspiring journey for me and the Plateau team, knowing that the new spa experience will elevate guests’ expectations forever, says Plateau Spa director Miki Hirakawa. “Our team was indeed put to the challenge for not only designing a choreographed sequence that matches the soundtrack but also creating an exhilarating experience that assimilates emotions and mind-power as healing energy, setting this apart from the market’s current offers.”

The new “Voyage des Sens” treatment is available until March 2018 and is priced at HK$1,300 (US$166).
