Cathay Pacific has relaunched its reimagined The Bridge lounge, one of the most popular lounge spaces at Hong Kong International Airport.
The reopening of the lounge – conveniently located at the junction between two gate wings of the airport and steps from the inter-terminal train – marks the first chapter in an airline’s ambitious overhaul of its lounge network.
Situated near Departure Gate 35 in Terminal 1, this revitalised space now blends residential warmth with sophisticated design, offering business travellers a serene retreat before their flights.
As part of a HK$100 billion (US$12.5 billion) investment in aircraft, cabins, lounges, and digital innovations, The Bridge sets a new standard for premium hospitality, with other flagship lounges soon to debut in Hong Kong, Beijing, and New York.
The reopening aligns with Cathay Pacific’s broader lounge enhancement strategy. While The Wing, First closes for renovation this month, reopening in 2026 (The Deck is also being enhanced and from 21 May will serve as an interim First class lounge) followed by a renovation of The Wing, Business, The Bridge ensures uninterrupted luxury. The Pier, First and The Pier, Business will remain open throughout.
Designed with a human-centric ethos, The Bridge feels like an elegant home rather than an airport lounge. Cherry wood screens, black granite, and travertine accents create a cohesive aesthetic, softened by curated plants and original artworks from Cathay’s “Gallery in the Skies” initiative.
“We aimed to craft a space that feels genuinely welcoming,” says Guillaume Vivet, General Manager of Customer Experience Design. “Every detail—furniture, dining, even the ambient scent and music—enhances relaxation and elevates the journey.” The result is a sanctuary where executives can recharge or focus amidst a refined atmosphere.
The lounge also introduces a cutting-edge biometric check-in system, a first for Cathay Pacific, alongside a traditional desk, streamlining entry for busy professionals.
Divided into two wings, The Bridge caters to diverse palates. The left side celebrates Chinese cuisine with the iconic Noodle Bar, serving classics like wonton soup and dan dan noodles, dim sum, and new dishes such as biangbiang mian and braised beef shin with cauliflower.
A novel addition, The Nook extends this culinary experience with cosy seating and regional small plates—think made-to-order bao, crispy scallion pancakes, and steaming rice rolls—served from a custom dim sum cart. Vibrant salads and desserts round out the menu, ensuring variety for frequent flyers.
The right wing offers an international dining experience at the Food Hall, where front-of-house ovens deliver an oven-to-plate concept. Hearty casseroles, such as beef bourguignon and Provençal vegetable bakes, pair with fresh pastries, crisp salads, and indulgent desserts, evoking comfort and familiarity.
This side also features an exclusive enclave for First-class passengers and Cathay Diamond members, where personalised service from the attentive Cathay team fosters privacy and ease, ideal for sealing deals or unwinding post-meeting. In addition, The Bar, with its impressive panoramic views of the runway, is the perfect place for customers to enjoy expertly crafted cocktails, barista coffees or a glass of Champagne and includes a dedicated relaxation area outfitted with the airline’s bespoke Solo Chairs.
The Bridge’s residential ambience is deliberate, with furniture and lighting designed to soothe. Thoughtfully selected pieces and soft textures create intimate corners for working or relaxing, while the lounge’s layout ensures quiet zones away from bustling airport crowds.
For business travellers, the space balances productivity and respite, offering a refined backdrop for answering emails or savouring a pre-flight meal. The integration of local and global design elements, from Hong Kong-inspired art to universal elegance, underscores Cathay’s cosmopolitan identity.
Cathay’s new-look The Bridge reflects a forward-thinking approach to business travel, one that caters to the needs of modern executives seeking connectivity, comfort, and culinary excellence while preserving the airline’s signature hospitality.
