Botanik, the rustic rooftop restaurant, and bar in downtown Colombo created by Cantaloupe & Co, has rapidly become one of the most desirable destinations for social occasions and corporate gatherings in the Sri Lankan capital.
The newest arrival on Colombo’s culinary scene, Botanik is already in high demand as a destination for all types of events, including business functions, product launches, pop-up events, corporate celebrations, and more.
Perched on the eighth floor of the Fairway Hotel in Colombo’s historic port area and central business district, Botanik has generated many event inquiries from home and abroad. Botanik usually accepts groups of up to 12 guests, enabling it to maintain the highest culinary standards and retain the diverse social ambience of the venue. But larger groups can be accommodated upon request.
“Since we launched Botanik, we have experienced high demand from guests seeking a unique destination for their corporate or social gatherings,” says Cantaloupe Hotels Group’s founder and CEO, Dimitri Jayasuriya. “Our stunning rooftop setting, stylish interior design, and creative menus have proven extremely popular, quickly positioning Botanik as one of the city’s most sought-after dining destinations and social settings.”

For the local corporate market, Botanik has created a new Executive Lunch Menu. Reflecting Botanik’s contemporary bistro-style, Chef Rishi Naleendra – Sri Lanka’s only Michelin-starred chef – has developed a delectable two-course menu perfectly suited to corporate lunches, allowing guests to choose from a sumptuous selection of starters and main courses.
In addition, Botanik’s expert mixologists have devised a new Gin Cocktail Menu, which is ideal for after-work get-togethers and evening drinks. An extensive selection of new cocktails is available, using a choice of eight different gins including premium labels such as Broker’s, Hendrick’s and Tanqueray No.10, and Sri Lanka’s own Colombo Gin. These are served from one of the longest bars in the city, which, overlooking the city skyline, is also becoming an attraction in its own right.
For guests seeking an evening of entertainment, Botanik’s bar has launched “Botanik Live” – an open mic night that serves as a platform for exciting young artists to showcase their talents, offering a great night out for local residents and international visitors alike. And every Thursday, a live acoustic band called The Drift will provide the perfect musical backdrop to any occasion.
Botanik was conceptualised and created by Cantaloupe and Co as a contemporary yet rustic venue that showcases fresh produce and menus that change with the seasons, with an underlying botanical theme. With indoor and outdoor areas, Botanik comprises three interwoven venues: The Bistro, Rooftop Terrace, and The Veranda.

The main restaurant area features high ceilings and exposed brick walls that frame the show kitchen, while a customised botanical illustration by Nimesh, a young and talented Sri Lankan graphic designer, depicts the island’s indigenous flora and fauna. On the rooftop, the four-sided island bar is adorned with handmade Moroccan style mosaic tiles. This modern, rustic design concept is also reflected in Botanik’s culinary style, which focuses on delivering quality ingredients with unfussy presentation – perfect for corporate dining.
