Air China to Launch Barcelona-Shanghai Flights

Air China will launch its second route linking Barcelona to China, with a direct Barcelona-Shanghai flight, commencing May 5, 2017, offering business travellers convenient connection between Europe and the Middle Kingdom.

The new route will be operated three times weekly, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with an Airbus 330-200 featuring 16 business class seats and 239 economy class seats.

Flights will depart from Barcelona Airport at 12:30 pm to reach Shanghai-Pudong at 6:40 am the next day on Fridays and Sundays, while on Tuesdays, flights will depart from Barcelona at 11:45 to reach Shanghai at 05:55 am the next day. Return flights will depart at 00:30 am to land in Barcelona at 8:00 am the same day.

The schedule has been programmed to be adapted to the business travellers’ needs, as well as to allow better connection at Shanghai airport. Corporate travellers will be able to reach Shanghai on Monday and leave back to Barcelona on Friday of that same week.

Barcelona has strong business ties with Shanghai and its surroundings. According to data from the BCN Air Route Development Committee, about 100,400 passengers flew from Barcelona to Shanghai in 2016 alone with a layover. The second route served by Air China from Barcelona will satisfy increasing demands by several social sectors and businesses in the two cities.

Air China launched its first route from Barcelona to Beijing, China in May 2014.
