W Taipei Presents Neo Orient W T Time Set

W Taipei has launched the “Neo Orient” W T Time set at Yen Bar, which offers the spectacular view of Taipei 101 building. Ideal for casual business catch-ups, the 101-tower-shaped afternoon tea set serves seven authentic Oriental savories, two alluring western sweets, one plate of fresh fruits, and beverages ranging from Taiwanese tea, coffee, to the W exclusive cocktails.

“Yen Bar, next to Yen Chinese restaurant, offers the most creative cocktails and stunning view of Xinyi district, Taipei’s Manhattan.” says Bradley Froehlich, W Taipei executive chef. “Neo Orient is the new theme of W T Time which embodies the concept of the venue décor and menu design. Guests can taste the Asia-inspired dim sums and delicate desserts with the breathtaking view of Taipei 101.”

Chef Bradley has incorporated the Yen Bar’s main décor colour – purple – and fun factors in the savory dishes. He utilizes the purple local ingredient to create the attractive yet authentic “lips jelly with sweet purple potato filling”, which sits on a mini champagne glass filled with pop candies. He also makes the Cantonese dim sum “deep fried taro glutinous ball” with the purple taro stuffing. The Oriental entrees include pineapple bun with butter, beef cheese tart, salad shrimp roll, mango pudding, and fresh fruit daifuku (mocchi). W Taipei’s sweetologist Yu Mei Ho plays with the same concept on desserts as well, offering purple-themed “black currant macaroon” and “hot chili ganache chocolate cake” with a hint of spice.

The W T Time set is available daily from 14:30 to 17:30 at Yen Bar, priced at TWD1,800 (US$56) plus 10 percent for two persons. www.wtaipei.com/afternoontea.
