The Second Sukhothai Hotel to Open in Shanghai

HKR International Limited will add the second hotel to Sukhothai Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio with the opening of The Sukhothai Shanghai, which is slated to debut in Nanjing Road West in late 2017, providing business travellers more accommodation options in the bustling city’s CBD.

A new masterpiece by the world-renowned interdisciplinary design practice Neri & Hu, The Sukhothai Shanghai is a contemporary luxury boutique hotel featuring 168 uniquely designed guestrooms and 33 well-appointed luxurious suites, ranging from 44 to 172sqm.

The new hotel is an integral part of the HKRI Taikoo Hui mixed-use complex, which is jointly developed by HKR International and Swire Properties, and is annexed with a restored heritage building, Cha House. The property is connected to two Grade A office towers in HKRI Taikoo Hui and provides easy access to Shanghai’s extensive metro network.

The second floor of The Sukhothai Shanghai houses a range of meeting and banquet facilities, including a ballroom and six multi-purpose rooms, offering a total function space of 650sqm. Other facilities include a state-of-the-art fitness centre overlooking a 25-metre indoor heated pool, and a spa that allows guests to indulge in a rich collection of specialised rejuvenating programmes.

The hotel offers an inspirational culinary journey with five stunning dining and bar venues featuring authentic and modern cuisines as well as artisanal beverages. La Scala, one of the best known Italian restaurants in Bangkok, will feature an open theatre kitchen and will serve a la minute prepared urban Italian cuisine using the freshest ingredients, complemented by a wide range of Italian boutique wines.
