Singapore Airlines and Avianca Sign Codeshare Agreement

Under the new agreement, Singapore Airlines customers will have wider connections to the Colombian capital of Bogotá. SIA will add its “SQ” designator code to Avianca-operated flights from its European gateways at Barcelona and London to Bogotá. In turn, Avianca will add its “AV” designator code to SIA-operated flights between Singapore and both Barcelona and London.

“This new codeshare agreement with Star Alliance partner Avianca provides our customers with seamless connections to Bogotá, the financial and commercial centre of Colombia,” says Tan Kai Ping, SIA senior vice president marketing planning. “It is another example of our commitment to continuously expand our network to offer customers greater accessibility and travel options.”

Avianca has been the Colombian national carrier since 1919 and is headquartered in Bogotá. Avianca is the flagship of a group of eight Latin American airlines, whose operations are combined to function as one airline using a codesharing system. Avianca is the largest airline in Colombia and second largest in Latin America, after LATAM of Chile.
