Sichuan Airlines to Launch Direct Flights to Auckland

Sichuan Airlines will operate a non-stop flight between Auckland and Chengdu from June 13, offering business travellers better connectivity between the New Zealand city and the capital of Sichuan province in China.

Many Chinese carriers are eyeing destinations in Australia and New Zealand, hoping to forge important cargo and passenger links with these destinations while also offering travellers an alternative to flying via popular Asian hubs like Singapore and Hong Kong.

This new route will operate three times a week and will be served by an A330 aircraft. The 13-hour flights from Auckland will depart at 20:30 and will arrive in Chengdu at 06:00 the next day. From Chengdu, flights will depart at 01:55 to arrive in Auckland at 18:45.

Chengdu is the first city to adopt a 72-hour transit visa exemption for foreigners. With the visa-free policy and Sichuan Airlines’ dense route network, passengers taking flights between Chengdu and Auckland can travel to most of China’s major cities while enjoying convenient transit services.

Sichuan Airlines has an Airbus fleet of over 120 planes covering more than 240 flight routes, and its route network, offering flight services to 23 million passengers annually, reaches Asia, Europe, Oceania, and North America.
