Mantra to Open 176-Room Hotel in Canberra, Australia

The 176-room Mantra MacArthur Hotel will open in late September 2017 as part of Canberra’s vibrant urban renewal programme. The former office tower will offer convenient accommodation close to the Australian capital’s central business district.

The opening of the 10-storey hotel will see Mantra Group operating just under 500 rooms across four hotels in Canberra. The retrofit has transformed the former office building into a sophisticated full-service hotel featuring 136 hotel rooms and 40 spacious suites, each comprising a king-sized, an LCD TV, a minibar, as well as coffee and tea making facilities.

The addition of the new hotel will bolster Canberra’s accommodation sector as the city, which is located within its own governed territory, sees a surge in visitor numbers and new direct airline services from outside Australia.

The Mantra MacArthur Hotel will include a brand new Podilato restaurant and bar serving Greek Mediterranean-style cuisine, a fully equipped gym, 24-hour reception, secure parking, internet lounge and express check-out.

The overall design by AMC Architecture features a modern industrial approach, with interiors of black steelwork, brass, mirrors, and stone with areas of exposed structure, such as visible soffit and ductwork in the bar and restaurant.
