Japan Airlines to Offer New Menus

Japan Airlines has partnered with chef Daisuke Hayashi from the Japanese Culinary Academy UK to offer a new Japanese menu on its flights from London Heathrow Airport to Tokyo Haneda Airport. Available from September 1, the new menu will be offered to both First and Business class passengers.

The new first class menu consists of five small seasonal dishes, a bowl dish, hors d’oeuvres, a main dish with seasoned rice and soup, all cooked with fresh ingredients from the UK, as well as a dessert. Passengers can savour the chef’s signature dashi (Japanese soup stock made from dried bonito and kelp), combined with tomatoes and chicken stock. Business class passengers can also enjoy a range of appetisers housed in a Japanese Irodori Gozen box.

Chef Hayashi was the sous-chef at the prestigious Kyoto restaurant, Kikunoi, in Akasaka, Tokyo, and supervised the Japanese cuisine at the 2008 G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit. He also has extensive experience working in Japanese restaurants overseas, including Tokimeite in London. www.jal.com
