Hong Kong Airlines to Offer Cantonese Delicacies on Vancouver Flights

Commemorating the airline’s North American debut with the launch of its non-stop daily service to Vancouver, Canada, Hong Kong Airlines has partnered with two favourite Vancouver dining destinations to curate a special inflight culinary programme for the airline’s Business Class, offering premium passengers enhanced culinary experience in the sky.

The flight from Vancouver will offer a Business Class menu formulated by Dynasty Seafood Restaurant’s executive chef Sam Leung and dim sum head chef Garley Leung, who are celebrated chefs at an award-winning restaurant in Vancouver. Business Class passengers on the new Vancouver-Hong Kong route will be able to enjoy the award-winning signature dishes from the restaurant, including a baked mince pork pie and an inflight version of the hand-shredded smoked chicken.

One of Vancouver’s most celebrated mixologists, David Wolowidnyk from Fairmont Pacific Rim’s new restaurant, Botanist, will bring his award-winning cocktails onboard the flights. One of two bars on the aircraft, The Skybar in Business Class will serve Wolowidnyk’s signature cocktail, Bauhinia, referring to the flower depicted in the Hong Kong Airlines’ logo. Made with Rémy Martin XO cognac, champagne, freshly-pressed grape juice, tea, and lemon, the beverage is inspired by Hong Kong’s official flower.

“Vancouver is world-renowned for having some of the best Cantonese food outside of Hong Kong, and Dynasty’s long tradition of combining the freshest of Canadian ingredients with authentic Chinese cooking techniques truly showcases the best of East and West,” says Christopher Birt, general manager of inflight services of Hong Kong Airlines. “We are delighted to have them on board as our partner to create a menu that will not only be familiar to our Canadian customers but one that will also provide a great introduction to the rich diversity of Vancouver’s gastronomic offerings to our Hong Kong and worldwide customers.”
