Figaro Opens in Soho, Hong Kong

A new gastro-wine bar, Figaro, has opened in the heart of Soho, Central. Located on the Shin Hing steps between Hollywood Road and Gough Street, the new dining venue is perfect for business dinners filled with French wine, fine food and great vibes.

Borrowing its name from a centuries-old romantic hero created by Pierre Beaumarchais, Figaro is spread across two floors with a bar on the ground floor. The drinks menu focuses strongly on French wines, with over 2,200 bottles in collection at the wine cellar, all originated from France’s famous Burgundy, Bordeaux, and Rhone Valley wine regions.

Heading up the kitchen is chef Jonathan Irwin, who has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants for over 20 years. At Figaro, the dining experience is all about sharing. Signature a la carte dishes include langoustine tartare with cucumber consommé; Iberic pluma; fried Jersualem artichokes; yoghurt with herbs & lamb’s lettuce salad; and sweet & sour lamb two ways with apple & shiso. A “Classic Section” on the menu features dishes served all day long, including a traditional French cheese or charcuterie platter, and a selection of bruschetta with pesto, aubergine and tapenade.

“We are very excited for the opening of Figaro as we believe Hong Kong deserves an authentic wine-bar serving up delicious French small-plates,” says co-owner Elias El Daif. “This is very close to our hearts because it’s what we enjoy daily in France. The Figaro experience is simple, casual and unpretentious – and this is exactly what Hong Kong needs.”

Figaro is open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Friday, with weekend brunch served on Saturday and Sunday. www.figaro.com.hk
