Langham Hospitality Group expands its upscale hotel portfolio with the opening of Cordis Shanghai Hongqiao, the signing of Cordis Hangzhou, and re-branding of its Auckland property to a Cordis hotel, providing a choice of convenient accommodation options in the Asia Pacific region.
The group will open its first Cordis hotel in mainland China, Cordis, Shanghai, Hongqiao, on May 26, 2017, which will be the group’s second hotel for the brand after Cordis Hong Kong. Located close to the National Exhibition and Convention Centre, the 396-room hotel is seamlessly connected to the Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Metro Lines 2 and 10 via underground and overhead access and is a five-minute drive from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

Cordis, Shanghai, Hongqiao is poised to host the city’s major events, conference, and special events with 1,600sqm of dedicated event spaces, which include two pillarless ballrooms, each with the capacity to accommodate 600 guests. There are six dedicated breakout rooms with natural light, which can host banquets, meetings, and other smaller size events.
Further to the expansion, the Langham Hospitality Group has signed an agreement to manage Cordis, Hangzhou, which is scheduled to open in 2019. The hotel will form an integral part of the complex comprising of new office buildings, an integrated shopping complex, and residences. Featuring 200 guestrooms and suites, the hotel will be nestled in the heart of the Future Technology City in Hangzhou, where high-tech and creative businesses, including the Alibaba headquarters, are situated. The property will provide over 1,500sqm of function spaces, including an 800sqm Grand Ballroom for events and conferences.

Marking the group’s entry to Asia Pacific, The Langham, Auckland will be re-branded as Cordis Auckland from November 1, 2017. Following the recent renovation of the banquet venues and the hotel’s eight restaurants, the hotel will undergo refurbishment, which is scheduled to be completed by Feb 2018, for all 411 rooms and suites, lobby lounge, and the exclusive Club Lounge.
“The addition of Cordis, Auckland to our portfolio has special significance for the group as it will be the first Cordis hotel in the Pacific,” says Robert Warman, chief executive officer of Langham Hospitality Group. “Our plan is to introduce and grow the Cordis brand in this region, which is seeing increasing numbers of leisure and corporate travellers year on year.”
