Cathay Pacific to Extend Services between Hong Kong and New Zealand

Cathay Pacific will introduce a new seasonal service between Hong Kong and Christchurch, commencing December 2017, providing South Island-based business travellers with a direct link between the two cities, while complementing the airline’s existing services to Auckland.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the new service will operate between December 1, 2017 and February 28, 2018, and will complement Cathay Pacific’s current seasonal double daily flights to Auckland, as well as strategic partner Air New Zealand’s daily service between Hong Kong and Auckland.

The non-stop Christchurch service will operate three times weekly, departing Hong Kong on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, using an Airbus A350 aircraft, providing a welcome boost for tourism to Canterbury and the South Island.

The new flights will depart Hong Kong at 20:45 on Wednesdays and Sundays to arrive in Christchurch at 12:55 the next day and will take off at 14:50 on Friday to land in Christchurch at 07:00 the next day. Return legs will depart Christchurch at 14:25 on Mondays and Thursdays to arrive in Hong Kong at 20:55, while on Saturdays the flights will take off at 08:30 to arrive Hong Kong at 15:00.

Cathay Pacific and Air New Zealand will also extend their strategic alliance partnership on services between Hong Kong and New Zealand for a further five years until 2022, subject to continuing regulatory approvals.
