ANA to Expand Sake Service to Economy Class Passengers

All Nippon Airways (ANA) will expand its existing sake service in First, Business and Premium Economy Class to Economy Class on its international flights from September 1, 2017, allowing all customers the chance to sample the Ichinokura Tokubetsu Junmai Sake Dry from the renowned Ichinokura brewery.

By expanding the service to passengers in Economy Class, the airline not only allows more passengers to enjoy the rich flavours of this delicious beverage but also contributes to the promotion of Japan’s proud sake culture both overseas and domestically.

The Ichinokura Tokubetsu Junmai Sake Dry is brewed from Sasanishiki and Kura no Hana, two varieties of rice from Miyagi Prefecture, the home of Ichinokura. The Ichinokura brewery was founded in 1973 through the merger and incorporation of four of the oldest breweries in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.

“In recent years, many of our passengers have been asking us to serve sake in Economy Class,” says Yuzo Hara, vice president of products and services strategy, ANA. “The number of international visitors to Japan is increasing, and this trend is expected to continue, as Japan hosts a number of international events such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020. We hope that our passengers will pair the sake with their meals onboard ANA flights, for a full Japanese gastronomic experience.”
