Amalfitana – Artisan Pizza Bar Opens in HK

Inspired by the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy, Amalfitana – Artisan Pizza Bar has opened at The Pulse, Hong Kong’s largest beach-front shopping mall situated in Repulse Bay, offering business travellers an ideal spot from which to relax and enjoy a taste of authentic Italian cuisine.

Helmed by chef Michel Degli Agosti, the 60-seat restaurant and bar boasts a menu of traditional delicacies with a modern twist. Kick off the meal with a selection of starters and salads, such as the eye-catching “Tricolore”, which includes tomato bruschetta, avocado, bufala mozzarella, and barley salad with spelt, pine nuts, cherry tomato, sundried tomato and pesto. Making use of a vintage Berkel slicer, there is also a selection of Tagliere, with cured meats, cheeses and grilled vegetables.

Adopting the best of the various styles of pizza making, chef Michel uses a technique of long rising dough whereby the pizzas are lighter and easier to digest. Using a variety of Italian produce and ingredients such as San Marzano tomatoes, the restaurant’s signature pizzas include the Margherita (tomato and mozzarella) and the Amalfitana (bufala mozzarella, tomato, porcini mushroom, rocket and parma ham).

Rounding off the meal is a selection of decadent desserts, ranging from tiramisu, nutella pizza and pistachio gelato to lemon sorbet. A delicious beverage program is also on offer, which features house-made limoncello infusions (ginger, orange and rosemary), a dedicated Spritz list, and multiple variations on the classic Negroni. Guests can also choose from an Italian centric wine list, a variety of beers on tap, and classic cocktails. www.amalfitana.hk
