Air Canada Launches Montreal-Shanghai Flights

Air Canada has launched daily direct flights between Montreal and Shanghai, China, offering business travellers convenient connectivity between the Canadian city and the Chinese financial hub.

The airline’s first direct service to Asia from Montreal, this route, operated with a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, offers convenient one-stop access to points throughout Quebec, Atlantic Canada, and the United States. With an average flight time of over 13.5 hours, it is the longest flight operated by any carrier from Montréal-Trudeau airport.

In Montreal, flights are timed to optimize connections to and from the carrier’s extensive Eastern Canada and U.S. networks including Ottawa, Quebec City, New York, and Boston.

In Shanghai, Star Alliance partners Air China and Shenzhen Airlines, along with partner Juneyao Airlines, offer connectivity to domestic China destinations such as Chengdu, Chongqing, and Shenzhen.

“China is Canada’s second-largest trading partner and Air Canada is the first and only Canadian carrier to operate daily non-stop transpacific service between Montreal and the Asia,” says Benjamin Smith, president, passenger airlines at Air Canada.

Air Canada’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner features three cabins of service, with its International Business Class cabin boasting 20 Executive Pods with 180-degree lie-flat seats in configuration guaranteeing direct aisle access; the Premium Economy cabin, offering 21 seats and great legroom, as well as premium meals, complimentary bar service, and priority check-in and baggage delivery at the airport; and the Economy cabin, which has 210 slimline seats providing comfortable personal space and state-of-the-art individual on-demand entertainment system.
