A New Neapolitan Afternoon Tea in HK

Michelin-starred restaurant Tosca, located at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, has partnered with Marinella, an Italian designer brand acclaimed as the epitome of a gentleman’s tie, to launch an exclusive afternoon tea, available every Saturday from June 18 to July 23, 2016. Inspired by Naples, Marinella’s origin, the Neapolitan Afternoon Tea will delight business travellers with authentic Neapolitan sweet and savory bites.

Neapolitan cuisine originated from the Greco-Roman period and has been refined by heavy influences of Arab, Norman, Spanish and French cultures throughout the course of history. The Neapolitan Afternoon Tea pays homage to this time-honoured cuisine with a scrumptious selection of traditional Neapolitan favourites. With ingredients resembling the colours of the national flag of Naples – red (Sorrento tomato), white (mozzarella cheese) and green (basil) – “babà with salami and mozzarella cheese” is a tribute to Italy and the city of Naples, while “pizza margherita” is an authentic delicacy highlighting the simple yet classic combination of San Marzano tomatoes and mozzarella cheese.

Flakey and savory on the outside and moist and sweet on the inside, “puff crispy cake” will please any food connoisseur with candied lemon, orange and grapefruit zest enveloped in a delicately buttery and airy pastry shell. A traditional Italian treat for Easter, “grain and ricotta cake” is filled with cooked grains, ricotta, orange flower essence and vanilla, and covered with heavenly light shortcrust pastry. “Fruit ice-cream selection” will end the afternoon tea experience on an icy sweet note with fresh pears and figs stuffed with vanilla ice-cream. www.ritzcarlton.com
